Dr. Manuela Rabener

Dr. Manuela Rabener

Founder and Shareholder

An experienced entrepreneur with a background in strategy consulting and digitalisation projects.

  • Born in Baden-Württemberg, followed by studies in Frankfurt am Main and a doctorate (summa cum laude) at the European Business School.
  • Several stays abroad, some lasting several years, including in France, the United Kingdom, Dubai and the USA.
  • Until 2025, Managing Director and Partner (shareholder) at BCG X, the technology and business-building arm of the Boston Consulting Group.
  • First professional experience as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, Inc., from 2002 to 2009, then a first start-up in Cologne in e-commerce. Afterwards co-founder and CEO of Westwing in Russia (the Westwing Group is now listed on the stock exchange in Frankfurt), then from 2015 to 2019 co-founder and CMO of Scalable Capital, a leading European digital wealth manager and neo-broker.
  • Alongside her passion for entrepreneurship and innovative business models, she pursues her love of design and art in her private life.
  • Manuela Rabener lives in Berlin, is married and has two daughters.

Michael Widowitz

Founder and Shareholder

An expert in connecting technology with entrepreneurial excellence – with a clear focus on sustainable growth.

  • Born in Austria, studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, followed by an MBA at INSEAD Business School.
  • More than 20 years of experience in developing and implementing AI strategies, digitalisation and data-driven business models. As a recognised expert in technology, IT governance and quantitative methods, he has guided complex transformations for international companies and created lasting competitive advantages.
  • Until 2025 likewise Managing Director and Partner at BCG X. There he led large-scale AI programmes, digital platform strategies and IT security architectures for leading companies. He has supported companies in scaling their IT landscapes, built cloud infrastructures and helped shape operating models for CIOs and CTOs.
  • He gained his first professional experience in investment banking at Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, followed by two decades at BCG.
  • Alongside his passion for digital innovation and IT architectures, he devotes himself intensively to programming. He is also an enthusiastic mentor, speaker and classical pianist.
  • Michael Widowitz lives with his wife and two children in Vienna.

FAQ

  • We focus on companies in the service sector that operate with low fixed assets and generate a high degree of recurring revenue with existing customers. In growth areas, however, we are also interested in more project-based business.

    Examples of sectors that are of particular interest to us include:

    • Companies that manufacture attractive products in growing niche sectors (e.g. wellness, health technology)
    • B2B industrial service providers
    • Providers in the field of the energy transition (e.g. energy consultancies, infrastructure maintenance)
    • Wholesalers with attractive private-label brands
    • Service providers for public-sector clients, e.g. sewer-cleaning companies

    This is not an exhaustive list, however. So please do not hesitate to get in touch if you are unsure.

  • That depends entirely on you and your wishes. We are very interested in entrepreneurs who want to take the next steps in growing their company together with us and who have a horizon of up to 5–7 years for handing over to a successor. In any case, we want to ensure a handover to a new managing director over at least 6 months. We are happy to discuss with you the potential of a reinvestment stake, so that you can benefit from your company's growth boost over the long term.

  • Valuing a company is not trivial, as numerous factors influence its worth:

    • Quantitative metrics such as revenue, return on sales, capital intensity and growth are for us only a first basis on which to estimate a rough price range
    • Beyond that, we also assess qualitative aspects such as the composition of the customer base, customer loyalty, the quality of products and services, and to a high degree the corporate culture and the quality and motivation of the employees.
    • Positive sector dynamics and barriers to entry that ensure stable revenues are further value-enhancing factors.
